Disney is working on a movie adaptation of Bambi. This will be a musical

The era of Disney remakes continues. By data Deadline, the studio has begun development on a live-action film adaptation of Bambi. Production is still at an early stage, but Disney has already looked after the director: this is Sarah Polley, received Oscar 2023 for Best Adapted Screenplay (for the film "Women Speak"). First film adaptation rumors appeared back in 2019, but it seems that due to the pandemic, they have only returned to work just now.

Negotiations with Polly are still ongoing. According to several Deadline sources, the project is being developed as a musical, with six-time Grammy winner Casey Musgraves responsible for the musical component. The script is being written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster (both of Maleficent), and produced by Depth of Field (The Golden Compass and last year'sPinocchio»).

The story will continue to be centered around Bambi the deer. While it is not known if The Man (the hunter and antagonist of the original cartoon) will appear in the film and who will play him, the expected release date has also not been disclosed.
