This is what we're watching: "Good Time" is an adrenaline-fuelled thriller starring Robert Pattinson

It's worth spending time on a film that doesn't give a break.
In the new series Articles every week I talk about what films and TV shows struck me.
Good Time is one of the best thrillers to come out in the last decade. The Safdie brothers managed to make an amazing movie with the brightest cast: Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and even an underground rapper appear on the screen Necro.
I love Good Time for its dynamism and fullness. The film about the failed bank robbery is 102 minutes long, and there is not a single superfluous scene in it. The Safdie brothers skillfully create a sense of chase even in static shots. It seems that the main character Connie is sitting on the couch, but you still understand that right now someone is looking for him, and the criminal himself comes up with a new crazy plan.
Absolutely in every frame there is adrenaline, you can almost feel the rapid heartbeat of the characters. In terms of dynamics, “Good Time” resembles “Mad Max: Fury Road” if the post-apocalyptic desert is replaced with New York.
"Good Time" completely abandons the clichés inherent in films about robbery. Heroes aren't smart, they don't have a cool plan. That's why it's easy to sympathize with them - these are not the masters from the "Bugcat" and not the geniuses from "Ocean's Eleven". Connie is driven not by a criminal mindset and villainy, but by desperation, so his decisions are impulsive.
The last Twilight came out in 2012, and for several years Robert Pattinson did everything to disown the image of Edward as a vampire. "Good Time" is a turning point in the actor's career, here he gives an incredible performance. After him, Pattinson began to be taken seriously, and further work (“The Lighthouse”, “Batman”) showed that this is a wonderful actor who was simply unlucky for the roles.
If you like crazy, even frenetic films, then Good Time is definitely worth a look. This is both a brilliant attraction and a masterfully done director's work. And you can continue watching another film by the Safdie brothers - "Rough Diamonds", albeit calmer, but no worse.
