It will only cost $500.
Mark Zuckerberg has officially announced the Quest 3 VR headset. The novelty runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and is 40% lighter than its predecessor.
On the Meta* blog addedthat the headset has become more compact, features "higher resolution and better performance." Quest 3 uses Meta Reality technology, which allows for "easily merging the physical world with the virtual".
The device received two RGB color cameras with a resolution of 4 megapixels, a depth sensor for more accurate display of the game space and "10 times more pixels in Passthrough compared to Quest 2".
The Touch Plus controllers have been given a more streamlined and ergonomic shape. And the outer tracking rings have been ditched, so the device now takes up less space.
There are also TruTouch tactile effects. Hand tracking will be supported out of the box, so you can use the headset without controllers (thanks to the Direct Touch function, which allows you to interact with virtual objects using only hands).
Quest 3 is compatible with the Quest 2 catalog of over 500 VR games and apps. The gadget has 128 GB of memory, but there is also a version with additional storage.
Quest 3 is expected to go on sale in the fall and will cost $500 (≈41,000 rubles). The company will tell more about the device on September 27, 2023 at the Connect presentation.
