Nintendo returned access to the eShop to users from Russia in a limited mode

nintendo told about important updates in the work of the Russian eShop. Since the spring of 2022, it has been put on maintenance, and users could not view offers, make purchases, and download purchased content. As of May 31, 2023, the store has reopened, albeit with significant restrictions.

Now users from Russia can re-download purchased digital content - previously, this required changing the region of the account. However, all payment information was removed from the accounts, closing the possibility of new purchases. It is also no longer possible to register new accounts in the Russian region.

In this way, Nintendo fulfills existing obligations to customers - that is, provides minimal support in order to avoid fines and breach of contracts. At the same time, paid repair of consoles does not seem to be included in these obligations: at the end of May, Nintendo removed such an opportunity, leaving only warranty service for consoles officially imported into the country.
