Miscellaneous / / May 29, 2023
They received unusual camera modules and charging up to 90 watts.
Honor announced a couple of new smartphones from the category of sub-flagships (or mid-range flagships): by most characteristics, they correspond to top-end devices, but compromises in simpler chips and other aspects made it possible to keep the price tag more democratic.
Between themselves, Honor 90 and 90 Pro differ in processors, cameras and charging. The displays are identical: it's a 6.7-inch curved OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Smartphones stand out with support for PWM dimming up to 3840 Hz - this is a record value. To reduce eye strain, Dynamic Dimming is used to simulate natural light, and there is also a night mode that reduces blue light.
Honor 90 gets Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, upgrade from Snapdragon 782G in Honor 80. But the Honor 90 Pro retained the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset that was used in the Honor 80 Pro.
Both new items received a 200 MP main camera with a 1 / 1.4-inch sensor that links 16 pixels in 1, as well as a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The base model has a third model with a 2MP depth sensor, while the Pro model uses a 32MP telephoto camera. The front cameras in both cases have a resolution of 50 megapixels, but on the Honor 90 Pro it is complemented by a second 2 megapixel sensor.
In both cases, a 5,000 mAh battery is responsible for autonomy. The Honor 90 supports 66W fast charging, while the Honor 90 Pro supports up to 90W.
