Leo Babauta: How I changed life
Tips Motivation / / December 19, 2019
The fact that you need to change something, say it. But not all, unfortunately, are really starting to take at least small steps in this direction. This can be called "Monday syndrome" - when we say to ourselves that everything starts with Monday: run, swim, find a new job, draw, there is only the right food, sit on a diet and generally begin to radically change their a life. Monday begins, but nothing happens in our lives. Why? Because Monday - the day heavy and are a million reasons why we put the beginning of a new and bright life. It is particularly convenient to shift the blame on others: the chief of work piled - do not have time, I have lined girlfriend to go to the cafe on the cake, and even take a day off at a new life for family reasons!
Often, we really want to change lives, but simply do not know how to do it correctly? I would compare it to when we start to run completely unprepared - just set too high standards, we take a quick pace, and screamed again postponed until better times. Therefore, it is best to start your journey to the changes in your life by reading tips from those who really did it. Leo Babauta, as always in his manner - short and clear about how he changed his life.

I started to run
In 2005, Leo led quite a settled way of life and just could not imagine how to do so, that daily exercise has become a useful habit. In 2006, he was running every day and ran a few marathons.
How to achieve such a result? He started with 10 minutes of jogging every day. He tried not to focus on how hard it is, and on the enjoyment of movement and the surrounding area. Then slowly increased during the run to 15 minutes, then to 20 and so gradually reached hour runs. Leo was grateful for every run, which he was able to accomplish.
Result. He became more healthy, sporty, slim and happy.
I started eating healthy food
In 2005, Leo had problems with being overweight, and he was dependent on fast food. Now he is to lose weight and eat only whole, natural foods (almost nothing is processed). Sweet Babauta eat and to this day, but gets more pleasure from healthy food.
How could he change? Leo Babauta started small - more water, less junk food, more fruits and vegetables, homemade food and cooking lunch with you to work. He gradually improved his diet and completely clean your refrigerator and pantry of bad inventory (chips, crackers, etc.), as well as completely abandoned the visiting institutions, which are fed fast food cooking. And I could also choose from healthy foods that are most like the taste.
Result. I feel better and went the extra weight.
As I got out of debt
In 2005, Leo was heavily in debt - creditors phoned him and he tried to not pick up the phone. He was trying all the best to live from paycheck to paycheck, and sometimes had to borrow from friends or relatives. It was the most difficult period in life. In 2007, Leo Babauta and his wife, Eva celebrated reckoning with his last duty.
How did it happen? He started with small changes at a time: had begun to cut costs, save a little, first to repay small debts, then debts more. Then there was a short break to catch your breath, and finally, at the end of the tunnel began to dawn light. Gradually financial habits have changed and the debt problems no longer occur.
The author did not stay long, and he was no longer going to return to borrowing. Freedom from debt - one of the highest freedom.
And then I gave up Goals
After all the changes that has been written above, Leo Babauta decided to start another experiment to improve the life which is to avoid the Goals.
How did it happen? It turns out that you can do all the same things, but without the mandatory planning. Instead, you just need to follow certain principles, which work in the same way and without goals.
People say that a person who has attained a great deal, it may well afford to give up goals. But in fact, you can give up the goals because you know how it all works without them. And if you follow these tips, then in any case you are able to change their lives regardless of whether you have goals or not.
principles
1. Start small.
2. Make only one change at a time.
3. Fully penetrate and have fun with what you're doing (do not focus only on the results).
4. Be grateful for every step that you could make.
For me at the moment, this topic is very relevant. So as soon as I, too, wanted to change his life, he took over all at once, and, of course, quickly burn out. Just like with running. And just now, talking to different people read at least a few books about the run, little to moderate the ardor and muting ambitions (fast, far and all at once), I finally started to turn... until only run. Apparently, I'm on the right track.
And you? What do you do to change your life? What are the main principles for you?
