Russians are actively switching to Android. Are you planning on ditching your iPhone?

In the first quarter of 2023 (January 1 to March 31) in Russia, among the smartphones sold, almost 90% of devices run on Android. About it report Vedomosti, citing sources in the industry.

In total, 5.83 million Android smartphones and only 677 thousand iPhones were sold during this period. These are 89.6% and 10.4% of the market, respectively. For comparison, in the first quarter of last year, these figures were 5.65 million and 951 thousand devices, respectively - or 85.6% and 14.4% of the market.

The reasons for the outflow of users are the presence of more budget models among Android smartphones, as well as the unavailability of certain applications and functions on iOS, including contactless payment.

Experts interviewed by the publication believe that if this trend continues, then by 2025 the share of the iPhone will be reduced to 3-4% of smartphones sold in the Russian market.
