This is not Apricot and Grape, this is the Hedgehog Passage, Leopard Embankment and Labor Bee Street.
Yandex Maps analysts decided to find out which animals are most often mentioned in street names in Russia. And surprisingly, the leaders were birds: nightingales, eagles and swans. They account for more than half of the options.
As examples of "bird" streets, one can cite, for example, Nightingale Street or even Svobodny Sokol Street. Following are options with mammals: bears, horses, lions, beavers and hares - a quarter of them. Almost 10% were fish and 5% were insects.
Arachnids are the least common on address plates; only two names are associated with them - Kleshchevskaya Street in Saratov and Kleshchevka Street in the village of Khovanshchino, Penza Region.
Among the fun options there are, for example, Proezd Yozhiki in the Leningrad region, Trudovaya Pchela street in Izhevsk, Mosquito Paradise near Saratov and Dashing Horse street in the Rostov region.
Analysts also collected several pairs and triplets of opponent animals and compared the number of streets associated with them.
It turned out that there are three times more "cat" streets than "dog" ones, owls in the names are found twice as often as larks, and a fly on the map of Russia is five times more noticeable than an elephant. The fox once again defeated the crow, the tortoise failed to overtake the hare, and the swan prevailed over the cancer and the pike.
In total, about 3,500 streets were discovered, in the names of which you can hear references to animals.
