Each device: tablet, smartphone, e-book or laptop computer come with their own chargers. At least it was until recently. Now, most of today's smartphones and tablets have a Micro USB connector, and is becoming the standard. Against this background, the question arises: is it possible to have to charge all your gadgets in one charger?
Despite the fact that over time, more and more chargers are manufactured to the same standard, all types of multiple chargers still widespread:
- Laptops. Unfortunately, so far not come up with a single standard for charging laptops and netbooks. Universal connector is not, which means that for each device needs an individual charger.
- 8-pin connectors (Lightning connectors) for the Apple gadgets. Since 2012, Apple standardized 8-pin connector, and now all of the devices were released after this year: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, iPad Nano, can be connected via the charger, certified and designed Apple.
The old apple devices have a 30-pin connector, and for those who are left, Apple releases adapters lightning → 30 pin.
- Micro USB chargers. All new smartphones, including devices based on Android and Windows Phone, comes with a standard connector micro USB, so no need to choose their individual chargers, both for old mobile phones. To meet this standard, Apple offers Adapters Lightning connectors → Micro USB.
Is it possible to charge any device with a connector Micro USB charger from any Micro USB?
The idea is that each Micro USB charger can plug in a device with such a connector, which means it can be used at all for any device, be it a smartphone, tablet or laptop. It is very convenient - if you buy a new smartphone or tablet, you can recharge it the old charger. The only difference - in voltage and current, but more on that later.
After another Micro USB → USB adapter you can charge the device from the laptop without any problems.
dangerous chargers
HP Chromebook 11 - this is the first laptop which Micro USB connector is used for charging. Most laptops require more energy and can not be charged in this way.
But this laptop has been removed from sale due to the overheating of the charger communications, which can cause a fire. HP representative advised customers who have purchased HP Chromebook 11, do not use original chargers provided with the device.
You can continue to use the laptop, charging it through one of the micro-USB chargers tested Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (Company of the US standardization and certification), for example, tablet or smartphone.
You will easily find chargers that have been tested and approved by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. - they have a logo «UL Listed».
This means that the charger is tested for safety, will not cause a fire and do not hit you shock. But in some cases proven chargers can cause trouble - namely, when the device is faulty battery. So that the fire can be a cheap and unoriginal charger, and the same low-cost, non-certified battery.
The voltage and amperage
All the USB connectors are rated for the voltage to 5V. This means that you can safely connect the charger to the device via micro USB.
Another thing - the current. In order to quickly charge your device, battery chargers increase the strength of the current, which is measured in amperes (A). Chargers that come with Android tablets, designed for high amperage than similar devices for Android smartphones. For example, a charger designed for tablet 2A, while the charger for only a smartphone 1A.
If you connect the charger from the smartphone to the tablet, the tablet will charge very slowly, because the current is not enough for a normal charge. If you attempt to charge your smartphone via the charger for the tablet, nothing terrible will happen, but your smartphone will not explode, and will not light up.
Most likely, the smartphone does not take the greatest possible number of amperes, which provides a charger, so that all will be well. Perhaps the smartphone only slightly faster charged.
