The behavior of the future leader already at the start can indicate whether it will be comfortable to work with him. In order not to make a mistake with the choice, we tell you what the vacancy should be like and what to look for at the interview.
1. Clearly indicates what tasks you will be working on
Blurry descriptions like “document work” or “people work” might indicate that you are looking at a one-day company or a network marketing firm. Such ads do not include details in order to attract as many people as possible.
A long list of requirements is also not always a good sign. It is possible that the employer needs a human orchestra who will simultaneously perform the tasks of a programmer, SMM specialist, designer, office manager and close other holes. Such an approach is unlikely to allow you to do quality work. In addition, you will work for several people, and receive one salary. It is better to respond to vacancies where specific duties are prescribed in your specialty.
2. Offers an adequate salary
To understand how much you can earn, evaluate the situation in the market. Look at salary reviews or find an HR professional you know to ask how much people in similar positions earn. This will give you the market average. But your real salary will depend on how you perform at the interview, so if you are confident in your skills, you can ask for 10-15% more at the start.
Be wary if a company promises high earnings for simple work. It is possible that they will offer something illegal. And even better - do not agree when the employer offers to indicate in the contract the minimum salary and a high bonus, the conditions for which are not clear. Bonuses can be cut at any time.
By the way, salary important criterion when choosing an employer for 81% of Russians who participated in a survey by the ANCOR staffing group and the Russia - Land of Opportunity platform. In addition to salary, financial stability, long-term employment guarantees, a pleasant atmosphere and interesting work were named as key factors.
3. Officially registered and has no debts
Make sure the company you're applying for really exists and is doing well. You will need a TIN for this. It can be found on the company's website or in its card on the job search platform. Enter data in service tax to see the date of registration, address and other information. The information about the types of economic activity should indicate the one that the company is actually engaged in. It is also worth checking if the employer is in the process bankruptcy. It is not forbidden to get a job in such a company, but problems may arise with the payment of salaries.
You can search the Internet for employee reviews. If they complain about non-payment of salaries or excessive workload, it is worth at least discussing these points at the interview.
4. Concludes a formal contract with employees
Working without registration is associated with great risks. You can be deprived of your salary, not let go on vacation, or simply fired one day. It will be difficult to prove your case through the court, because there are no documents that confirm employment. In addition, during official work, the company pays income tax and insurance premiums for you. And without registration, this does not happen, although you have income. If the case goes to court, you may be required to to repay the entire amount of unpaid tax and penalty. Therefore, make sure that within three days after starting work, you are concluded treaty.
The document must indicate the probationary period. For ordinary employees should not last more than three months, and for managers - six. Specify how your work will be evaluated at the end of this period and what results are expected. If the indicators are abstract, there is a chance that you will be fired for no clear reason.
5. Working in a field that interests you
People who love what they do feel happier and more satisfied with life. In addition, interest in tasks helps easier to deal with them - this will improve your results and reduce the risk of burnout. If you are constantly bored at work, this may lead to stress, anxiety, insomnia and other unpleasant consequences. Of course, in any job there are monotonous and tedious tasks. But whenever possible, it is better to choose projects that arouse curiosity.
6. Ensures that employees do not overwork
A large workload does not lead to an increase in efficiency. On the contrary, focus on the task strongly getting worse after 6 hours of work per day and 40 hours per week. In addition, constant processing threatens health problems. For example, people who are toiling more than 55 hours a week are more likely to experience strokes.
By law, the working week is 40 hours. But even if the company warned about processing, they should not exceed 4 hours on two consecutive days and 120 hours per year. Ask at the interview what kind of schedule the company adheres to and what a typical working day looks like. Phrases like “we have a lot of diverse tasks, and it definitely won’t be boring”, “our team is a family where everyone helps each other friend”, “we expect the employee to always be in touch” they can say that the company does not value personal boundaries and needs of people. By the way, if you have an appointment in the evening, pay attention to the employees: if the office is full of people at 20:00, you will probably have to stay late.
7. Provides development opportunities
Find out at the interview what potential for career growth there is in the company. If promotion is problematic, ask if it is possible to develop horizontally. It is good if the company invests in employee training. For example, pays for participation in conferences and trainings or provides an English teacher. This will improve the quality of work already now. And if in a few years you want to change the company, there will be achievements that can be indicated in the resume.
