Miscellaneous / / May 17, 2023
Cleaning will start this year.
Google informed about updating the inactive account policy. Starting this year, if an account has not been used for two years, it can be automatically deleted - with everything content, including Google Workspace data (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar), YouTube, and Google Photo".
The policy applies only to personal Google Accounts and does not affect schools, businesses, or other organizations.
This update brings the policy in line with industry standards for storing and deleting credentials. records, as well as limits the time during which Google stores unused personal information, noted in the blog companies.
Google plans to roll out this purge slowly and carefully, with lots of notifications to email and the associated recovery account (if one was specified).
The policy officially goes into effect on May 16, but the removals will only start from December 2023. Empty accounts that were created and never used will be deleted first.
To keep your account active, it is enough to use it in any Google service at least once every two years. For example, you can simply search Google, watch a YouTube video, download an app from Google Play, or check your email.
