Following the success of the Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition, Samsung announced two new indestructible models of the series: Galaxy S23 and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro.
New items with the prefix Tactical Edition retained the IP68 protection, as in the basic versions. Their screens are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus + glass, and the frames are made of reinforced aluminum. The XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition is also MIL-STD-810H compliant, meaning it can survive drops up to 150 cm and operates in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C.
Also, these smartphones are compatible with protective cases that can be attached to the chest or sleeve. Both offer a night vision mode for working with tactical optical devices, react to touches in gloves and offer automatic lock screen orientation for a more comfortable experience when mounted on chest.
Devices are not only hardened on the outside: Samsung Knox and Knox Dual Data at Rest are used here to protect sensitive information. Both models retained support for Samsung DeX: they can be used as the basis of a secure computer.
Like other devices in the series, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition will not arrive in open sale: they can only be ordered by departments for their employees by contacting directly with Samsung. For the same reason, the cost of smartphones and accessories for them is not called.
