Dubai to build world's largest residential area with coral reef

In Dubai are planning build another futuristic object. This time it is the Dubai Reefs residential area created from scratch, which will be located literally above the water.

First, they will build an artificial reef of a billion corals - the largest in the world. And already above it will be luxurious villas, shopping centers, amusement parks, laboratories for marine research and various tourist facilities.

In addition, tens of millions of mangrove trees will be planted here. As conceived by the authors of the project, Dubai Reefs should become a unique ecosystem.

A key feature of the facility will be regenerative marine farming, an environmentally friendly food production technology. It is noted that the residential area should become an important element in protecting Dubai from global warming and rising sea levels.

The area will cover 200 square kilometers. It is planned to build it using 3D printing technologies. However, the timing of the implementation and even the date of the start of a large construction project has not yet been announced.
