She has two keys at once - but one hole.
Japanese design team from Nendo showed the ultimate Friday invention: a beer can that creates the optimal amount of foam.
From the outside, it looks like a regular 0.33 liter can. The whole secret is in the lid: it has an enlarged hole and two keys at once, which must be used in turn.
To develop the design, the authors drew attention to two main principles for the formation of foam from canned beer: a sharp drop in pressure in the can when it is opened and the friction that occurs between the can and the liquid when pouring.
During the experiments, it was found that if the tongue of the key does not open the hole completely, the pressure is concentrated in a narrow hole. At the same time, during bottling, the area of contact of the beer with the cap increases, which contributes to the formation of bubbles.
This is where the bank with two keys comes into play. Slightly different distances between the key and the cover change the degree of opening. When using the first key, the hole is small, which allows you to create more foam.
Having opened the jar with the first key, you need to fill the glass with foam approximately to the middle and wait for the foam to settle a little. Then you need to use the second key, opening the can completely, and carefully pour the remaining beer.
The creators claim that this allows you to achieve the optimal proportions of beer and foam of 7:3, which they call the beer golden ratio. The Japanese, however, do not provide links to sources.
