Now we need to issue separate passwords for each application. We tell you how to do it.
Since May 5, Yandex has been restricting the ability to use the Yandex ID password in third-party services. About it writes TASS with a link to letters to clients from Yandex itself.
On May 5, 2023, we close the ability to use the password for your Yandex ID account in third-party mailboxes. applications, calendars and clients to Yandex Disk that connect via POP3 / IMAP / SMTP / WebDAV protocols / CalDAV.

It is noted that such a solution will improve the security of accounts. Disabling the old authorization method for users will be gradually over several months, and the process began back in April.
Users of Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, The Bat, and standard iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows email clients are advised to create separate passwords for these services. Here's how to do it:
- Open "Yandex ID" and go to the "Security" tab (or use this link).
- In the Data Access section, select App Passwords.
- Tap "Turn on app passwords" → "Create a new password" (or just "Create a new password" if you have two-factor security enabled).
- Select the application type, add a name (it will appear in the password list) and click "Create".
- The next window will display the password. Save it and enter it in the service you want to enter: you can only see the password in Yandex once. If you entered incorrectly and closed the window, delete the password and create a new one.
If you need access to several services, you will have to create separate passwords for each client.
