Apple and Google have said they are working together to prevent the use of search beacons to spy on people without their knowledge. We are talking about trackers of lost things, such as AirTag.
By words representatives of companies, tech giants have teamed up to develop a new industry standard that will add the ability to warn people about "unwanted" trackers.
This technology should be a kind of upgrade for Bluetooth. Its implementation will allow developers of other trackers of lost things, such as Galaxy Smart Tag or Tile, create similar alert features for iPhone and Android.
The development of the standard should be completed by the end of 2023. It will be available for Android and iOS smartphones.
It's worth remembering that Apple already has a Tracker Detector app that available for android. It also allows you to detect other people's beacons. Probably, the new standard will allow integrating such an opportunity at the system level.
