The right approach will help slow down age-related changes.
What is the type of facial aging
If you look at the photos of very old people, you can see that age-related changes manifest themselves in different ways. Someone's face has retained its shape, but it has many wrinkles. Usually in books they are compared to a baked apple. Someone has few wrinkles, but the oval of the face has become fuzzy, as if his features were gradually flowing down.
What the changes will be is not a matter of chance. They usually depend on set of reasons - the structure of the bones of the skull, skin type, the development of facial muscles, the amount of subcutaneous fat and so on. Based on these data, it is possible to assume the type of facial aging and focus on weak points in advance in home care and cosmetic procedures in order to slow down age-related metamorphoses.
At the same time, there is no generally accepted classification of types of facial aging. In Russia, they usually rely on that, which was proposed in 1974 by professor, doctor of medical sciences, honored cosmetologist Inna Kolgunenko.
What are the types of facial aging
There are five options.
1. Tired
As the name implies, age-related changes are characteristic here, which give a person a tired look. This tissue swelling, general bruising. The nasolabial folds and lacrimal grooves are strongly pronounced, the corners of the mouth can crawl down, there are bags under the eyes. Skin color becomes dull, earthy, heterogeneous. At the same time, after a good rest, the face may look younger.
This type of aging is characteristic of people with normal to moderately dry skin, average subcutaneous fat thickness and muscle tone.
2. deformational
It is typical for people with wide faces and not very pronounced cheekbones, jaw angles, that is, a bone frame on which facial tissues are held. Therefore, the face seems to slide under the influence of gravity. It is distinguished by a fuzzy oval of the face, a second chin, sagging skin in the lower jaw (the so-called fleas), bags under the eyespronounced nasolabial folds. Excess weight can exacerbate the situation, as it makes the tissues physically heavier.
Often found in people with combination and oily skin. It is also sometimes called the Slavic type of aging, as there are many among the Slavs who are predisposed to it.
3. Finely wrinkled
Usually in people with this type of aging, the oval of the face remains clear. However, the skin is collected in small wrinkles - here you can observe the same effect of a baked apple.
This type is typical for lean people without excess fat, including on the face, with dry skin.
4. Muscular
It is typical for people of Asian origin and those who have clearly expressed facial muscles. They can boast a clear oval and smooth skin for a long time. Age will be given out by pigmentation, pronounced nasolabial folds, lowered corners of the mouth, drooping upper eyelid. Perhaps the formation of deep wrinkles, for example, on the forehead.
5. Mixed
People of this type have different signs of aging. For example, a floating oval in the lower part of the face may coexist with small wrinkles in the upper part.
How to determine your type of facial aging
Unfortunately, there is no universal test that will accurately indicate the type of aging. You will have to study your face in order to understand what age-related changes are characteristic of it, and compare it with each option. It may not be so easy, especially if the years have not affected you in any way. Well, the simplest option is contact a beautician. He will determine the type of aging, and give recommendations.
What to do if you understand what type of facial aging you have
Regardless of the data, it is necessary to follow general recommendations that slow down the appearance of age-related changes. First of all:
- Sun protection: use sunscreen, prefer shadow to direct rays.
- Do not smoke or abuse alcohol.
- Eat right, get enough sleep, get enough rest, if possible avoid stress.
- Monitor the state of the hormonal system - this will help the gynecologist and endocrinologist. hormones can significantly influence on the condition of the skin and various processes in the body, including the rate of appearance of age-related changes.
- Avoid sudden weight fluctuations.
- Moisturize the skin. If everything is in order, the skin is less prone to wrinkles, regains smoothness from creases after sleep, and overall looks better.
However, there are specific recommendations for different types of aging.
With a tired type of facial aging
By and large, it will be enough to follow the general recommendations. And to maintain the radiance of the skin, you can use products with vitamin C.

With deformation type of facial aging
Beating heartless gravity with home care is hard. Therefore, the emphasis should rather be on lifestyle. For people who experience this type of aging, it is important to be even more careful to weight remained normal, and the diet did not contribute to edema. Against the latter, facial massage can also help. But it must be done correctly, so it is better to consult a beautician.
Irina Shulyak
Dermatologist, cosmetologist at GUTA CLINIC.
It is important to massage not only the face, but the whole body, since lymph stagnation is found everywhere. It is necessary to keep an even posture, monitor the tilt of the head, since with its constant lowering gravitational ptosis is aggravated, wrinkles deepen or appear on the neck.
Gravitational ptosis with this type of aging cannot be removed at home. Here you need to work not only with swelling and lymph, but also with pronounced subcutaneous fat. For this, hardware methods of ultrasonic lifting, endolifting are used.
With fine-wrinkled type of facial aging
Careful hydration - the head of everything. Pay attention to hygroscopic substances: hyaluronic acid, glycerin, panthenol. They draw water to the cell.
Irina Shulyak notes that it is still difficult to do without a cosmetologist here, since no molecules can pass through the epidermis. Deeper penetration is needed in order to make fibroblasts work to produce their own hyaluronic acid and collagen, therefore, it is important to conduct biorevitalization courses with preparations based on hyaluronic acid and peptides. It is also very good to work with collagen.

With muscular type of facial aging
For people with this type of aging, it is not the care products that will help, but the discipline. It is worth avoiding facial actions that cause large wrinkles to appear - frown your forehead, draw your eyebrows together. Often, a relaxing massage is also advised, which should cope with excessive facial muscle tone. But there is a nuance here.

Massage is a good relaxing procedure not only for the muscles of the face, but also for the whole organism as a whole. But if you want to achieve a result and maintain it, you need a large number of procedures. Is it worth it? After a week's break, everything will return to its previous state.
I would recommend helping hyperactive mimic wrinkles with botulinum therapy. Fillers can be added if necessary. In addition, there are various hardware techniques: non-ablative fractional photothermolysis, laser resurfacing, photorejuvenation.
With mixed type of facial aging
Care here (as, indeed, in all previous cases) is built symptomatically. If there is a tendency to edemaYou need to adjust your diet. If the skin is dull, use cosmetics with vitamin C.

With this type of aging, any technique is suitable. In my work, I start from what the patient does not like and what he wants to improve or change. Further, it all depends on what can be used for a particular person, depending on his general health.
