Some models with a domestic marketplace are already on sale in the Russian Federation.
Chinese smartphone makers start pre-installing app store RuStore on their devices shipped to Russia. In particular, this is done by Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, Infinix, Tecno and Itel, found out "Kommersant".
VK, which owns RuStore, confirmed this information, but did not name specific brands. The company noted that some models with the Russian marketplace installed on them can already be found on sale.
Tecno added that this software does not yet have access to system settings, as this is prohibited by the Google license. However, users can manually give Android OS permission to download and install apps from the store.
Since January 1, RuStore has been included in the list of programs that must be pre-installed on smartphones sold in Russia. The application was developed by VK together with the largest Russian IT companies and with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development. It was launched in 2022.
