Xiaomi 13 Ultra presented. He shoots kittens better than the iPhone 14 Pro Max

At a presentation in China, Xiaomi showed the top model of the flagship line in 2023 - Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Traditionally, Leica was engaged in camera setup, which is reflected in the logo on the main module. But this year, the cooperation of the companies was denser than usual.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra uses Leica Summicron smaller optical lenses for the first time. Such cameras should receive more real light and rely less on digital processing. It is noted that this better conveys the texture of objects. This was shown by comparing photos of kittens on Xiaomi 13 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Due to the sharpening algorithm, the second made the fur less soft.

As for the specifications, the smartphone relies on four main cameras, each with a resolution of 50 megapixels. It uses three Sony IMX858 sensors and an inch Sony IMX989 module, in the development of which Xiaomi itself took part. The lenses cover focal lengths of 12, 23, 75 and 120-240mm, offering 2x zoom, standard shooting, and hybrid zoom up to 10x (optical up to 5x).

Together with the smartphone, they will release 67 mm light filters, camera covers, a grip (a patch holder with a physical button shutter release with the middle position for focusing) and other accessories that are commonly used in full-fledged cameras.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is responsible for performance, which is complemented by LPDDR5X RAM and built-in UFS 4.0 (the amount depends on the modification). The screen is a 6.74-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 2K and a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Peak brightness is 2600 nits (probably HDR only), making the screen the brightest in the world.

The 5,000mAh battery supports 90W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The declared autonomy is 1.34 days without recharging.

The back panel is covered with a new generation of artificial leather - resistant to damage, dirt and bacteria. It is noted that with such a coating, the smartphone is more comfortable in the hand. Xiaomi 13 Ultra is protected from dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard.

The smartphone will be available in black, white and green colors. The prices are:

• 12 + 256 GB - 5999 yuan (≈71,100 rubles)
• 16 + 512 GB - 6499 yuan (≈77,100 rubles)
• 16 GB + 1 TB - 7299 yuan (≈86,500 rubles)
• A set of 5 accessories - 799 yuan (≈9,500 rubles)

Despite the performance improvements, the two younger ones cost 500 yuan (≈5,900 rubles) less than the Xiaomi 12S Ultra with the same amount of memory.
