A performance monster with two 96-core processors. And technically it's a laptop. Almost.
Mediaworkstations has introduced an updated version of the a-X2P portable computer. Technically, it can be called a very powerful laptop, but in fact it is more of a desktop option that is more convenient to transport compared to a regular system unit or monoblock.
The 2023 model received a pair of AMD EPYC 9654 processors (192 cores and 384 threads in total), as well as 3 TB of DDR5 memory. It is noteworthy that the Gigabyte MZ73 motherboard has 24 DDR5 slots - each up to 256 GB. So, in theory, up to 6 TB of memory will fit into the computer, but the manufacturer does not offer such an option.
The novelty has four PCIe 4.0 x16 slots directly connected to the processor. You can connect two video cards to them at the same time - your own or in the assembly. You can also connect one M.2 2280 or M.2 22110 drive, but the options for connecting drives are not limited to this. The board is a server board, so there is room to roam: there is a SlimSAS 4i connector with four SATA III ports plus two SlimSAS 8i (4 PCIe 4.0 ports or 16 SATA III ports).
As for connectivity, the a-X2P is equipped with two high-speed 10Gbps Base-T LAN ports and one MLAN port. But there is no Wi-Fi here. There are also two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports plus one each for VGA and COM.
When folded, this "laptop" is easily confused with the system unit. And no wonder: with dimensions of 41.5 × 62.5 × 26.9 cm, it weighs 20-25 kg, depending on the configuration.
Mediaworkstations does not publicly disclose the cost of fresh a-X2P. Perhaps this is for the best: one 96-core EPYC 9654 chip costs $11,805 (≈972,100 rubles). It's better not to think how much it costs to build with two of these chips, 3TB DDR5 and six monitors.
