Experts have chosen the best cars of the year. One of them won three nominations at once.

In NYC announced winners of the annual World Car Of The Year competition. The main award went to the Hyundai model for the second time in a row.

According to the rules of the award, only mass-produced cars with a circulation of at least 10 000 units per year, and they must be sold on at least two continents and at least two major markets. The best of the best are selected by hundreds of automotive journalists from 32 countries. They personally test all candidates.

In 2023, the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai won in three categories at once - the updated Ioniq-6 model was recognized as the best car, the best electric car and the most beautiful car. Last year, all these titles went to its predecessor, the Ioniq-5.

Best Car: Hyundai Ioniq-6

The Ioniq-6 model was the best of 30 candidates, which included Alfa Romeo Tonale, BMW 2 Series Coupé, BMW X1 / iX1, Kia Niro, Mazda CX-60, Mercedes-Benz C and Nissan Z.

Best Design: Hyundai Ioniq-6

In this nomination, the “Korean” outperformed such solid competitors as Land Rover Range Rover and Lucid Air.

Best Electric Car: Hyundai Ioniq-6

The jury noted that the car has a decent power reserve - 600 kilometers on a single charge, and a very comfortable interior.

Best city car: Citroen C3

There were only three entries in this class. In addition to the winner, ORA Funky Cat / Haomao and Volkswagen Taigo / Nivus competed for this title.

Best Sports Car: Kia EV6 GT

The BMW i7, Genesis GV60, Hyundai Ioniq-6, Kia Niro EV and Lucid Air were also on display here.

Best Premium Car: Lucid Air

There were five finalists in the World Luxury Car class: BMW 7 Series/i7, Genesis G90, Land Rover Range Rover, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Lucid Air. Experts recognized the last on the list as the “richest”.

Most of the cars from this top are rarely seen on our roads. Especially premium Lucid Air. Leaders in sales of new cars in 2022 in Russia remain budget models Lada, Kia, Hyundai, Renault and Chery.
