Scientists from Spain have penetrated into a cave where no human foot has set foot for thousands of years

But there were definitely prehistoric bears in this "paleolithic temple".
Researchers from the University of Murcia, Spain, for the first time infiltrated into a huge cave that has been mothballed for many thousands of years. It is literally hung with stalactites, the size of which confirms the conditions of unprecedented isolation from the outside world.
This unique place is located in a cave system in the southeast of the country, in Cueva del Arco, in the Canyon de Almadenes in Cies.
We are facing a world-class opening. The spaces of this cave were huge, some of them were 20 meters high, making them the highest in the region. The stalactites were equally unsurpassed, some of them being 3 meters long and 1 centimeter wide. This means that they have grown under conditions of almost unparalleled stability due to the isolation of the cave over many millennia.

Scientists rarely get the opportunity to explore a habitat frozen in time for millennia, so the importance of such a find cannot be overestimated. Years will pass before the true dimensions of the cave become apparent, but the researchers have already made the first conclusions.
So, judging by the traces of huge claws on the walls, this cave was once home to prehistoric bears. It is assumed that these animals became extinct about 24,000 years ago. They weighed about half a ton and were up to 3 meters long.
These bears did not actually live in caves, but many of their fossils have been found in such enclosed spaces. Scientists believe that the animals hibernated here, waiting for severe frosts and a lack of vegetation, which formed the basis of their diet.
Scientists believe that this untouched natural treasure, which is a real "Paleolithic temple", can bring many more surprises. Although the find has already surpassed all expectations.
