Firefox 109 Gets Manifest V3 Support That Will Kill Chrome's Ad Blockers

Mozilla managed to implement the technology without harming adblock extensions.
Released this week, Firefox 109 update added a new extension standard, Manifest V3, which caused Google to recently faced with a wave of criticism from Chrome users. The fact is that the new standard interferes with the work of some ad blockers. Mozilla took a different approach and implemented Manifest V3, leaving adblock services to work as usual.
As a result, Firefox received the Manifest V3 specifications needed to quickly port extensions from Chrome with minimal changes, but retained the ability to block ads via Web Request - API, which in coming Chrome update will be replaced with the Declarative Net Request interface, which blockers cannot work with yet.
With this solution, users will get the best of both worlds: access to familiar Chrome extensions in Firefox and the ability to use ad blockers. But it was not without drawbacks: by retaining the Web Request, Mozilla made the browser less secure than Chrome with the same Manifest V3.
Another innovation in Firefox 109 is the extensions button, which shows which services are active on the current page and what permissions they have. Here you can also manage the extension settings (provided that the developers have already added this feature).
