What is "goat"

"Goat" is a card game for four people. They are divided into two teams and fight pair by pair.

Players sit down so that representatives of one team are opposite each other. Each is dealt 4 cards, the rest of the deck is placed face down in the center of the table.

The first player discards one card. The rest do the same in clockwise order. As a result, all 4 cards (“bribe”) are credited to the team whose participant threw out the highest card. They are put aside with their shirts up, cards are drawn from the deck and they start again. This continues until the cards in the center of the table and the players in their hands run out. After that, "bribes" are counted. The round is won by the couple with more than 60 points.

Losers of the round are awarded 2 points. When one of the teams scores 12, the whole game will be considered completed.

What do the cards mean in the game?

For the "Goat" you need a regular deck, from which you need to remove all sixes. As a result, there will be 32 cards of four suits from sevens to aces. They are divided into trump and simple, and also differ in seniority.

These include jacks and queens of all suits, as well as all club cards.

At the same time, they are arranged in order of seniority and the gradation differs from that used in the game in "Fool». The eight of clubs is the youngest, followed by the 9 of clubs, the king of clubs, the 10 of clubs, the ace of clubs, the jack of diamonds, the jack of hearts, the jack of spades, the jack of clubs, the queen of diamonds, the queen of hearts, the queen of spades, and the queen of clubs. Completes the chain of 7 clubs, which is considered the highest card.

Simple cards

These are all the other cards of three suits - a spade, hearts and a tambourine.

In each suit, seniority will be the same. The lowest card is 7, and then in ascending order: 8, 9, king, 10 and ace.

How much are the cards

Neither the suit nor the "trump card" of the card affects its value. The points are distributed as follows:

• sevens, eights, nines - 0 points each;
• any jack - 2 points;
• any lady - 3 points;
• any king - 4 points;
• any ten - 10 points;
• any ace - 11 points.

How to play Goat

In any way, for example, by lot, a player is determined who distributes four cards to everyone, and puts the rest of the deck face down in the center of the table. He also makes the first move, laying out a simple card. The rest of the players, clockwise, place one common card of the same suit. If someone did not find a suitable suit, he can walk with a simple card of a different suit or use a trump card.

When the players have made a move, the “bribe” (all four cards) is taken by the team whose participant used the highest card. In this case, any simple card of a different suit is considered lower than the one with which they entered, and any trump card will be older than any simple card. The "bribe" is put aside, face down. Each team will have their own stack.

After completion each round, all participants take one card from the central deck until it runs out.

The point of the game is to get rid of cards of lower value during the round, and, on the contrary, try to take the most “expensive” copies into the team “bribe”.

The player who took the "bribe" in the previous round goes first in the next. This continues until the cards in the center of the table and in the hands of the players run out. After that, the teams proceed to scoring in the stacks with "bribes".

How to determine the winner

Teams are counting the number of points in the stacks with "bribes". The one with more than 60 points is considered the winner of the round. The losing pair gets 2 points. If both teams have 60 points, no points are awarded to either team. After that, the next round begins.

The game of "Goat" continues until one of the couples gets 12 points. She will be considered a loser.

What else you need to remember when playing "Goat"

• The team whose player went first in the last round loses the right to start a new round with a trump card. But a situation may arise when one card, a trump card, remains in hand, and you need to move. In this case, the player changes it from his partner to a simple one and makes a move.
• If a queen and a seven of clubs from different teams are on the table at the same time, the round automatically ends without scoring in "bribes". And the pair that put the queen of clubs is awarded 4 points at once.
