Experts believe that this reduces the credibility of the brand and the value of the smartphones themselves. Do you agree?
After Apple left the Russian Federation, Russian operators could not agree with it on the support of functions VoLTE And VoWiFi on their networks for the new iPhone 14. As a result, these technologies may not work correctly or not work at all, writes "Kommersant".
In large cities, VoLTE accounted for 60% of voice traffic. But now the operators do not have the opportunity to apply the desired settings due to restrictions on the side of Apple.
MTS explained that they managed to activate VoLTE technology for the iPhone 14, “but there is no certainty that it will work stably on all models that are imported into the country.” Activate VoWiFi on these phones does not work.
MegaFon also confirmed the limitations of VoWiFi. But subscribers can call over Wi-Fi using the eMotion app, so this limitation does not significantly affect the user experience. MTS also has a similar application (“My Connect”).
Vimpelcom (Beeline brand) added that the lack of settings also affected the modem mode in iPhone 14: to distribute the Internet to other devices, users need to manually register options. Also, according to the operator, the EVS (HD Voice +) codec is not available in the iPhone 14 in the Russian Federation, which allows you to transmit voice in ultra-high quality.
Alexander Surkov, head of the GS Group analytical center, believes that the very fact of blocking functions reduces the value of a smartphone and trust in the Apple ecosystem. What do you think?
