The State Duma is discussing a long weekend from May 1 to May 9

Extend the fun in the spring can be due to the truncated New Year holidays.
A bill on a long weekend from May 1 to May 9 was submitted to the State Duma. This was stated by the vice-speaker of the lower house of parliament, a member of the New People faction Vladislav Davankov, writes RBC.
The document provides for the postponement of four New Year holidays to May. If it is adopted promptly, then already in 2023 the Russians will be able to rest from April 29 to May 9, Davankov noted.
The authors of the bill believe that there is no point in a long vacation in winter. During this weekend, people still mostly stay at home. Another thing is in the spring, when it is already warm outside - many people go to the country or barbecue in the forest, spend time with benefit.
To summarize, the party proposes to cut the rest after the New Year, leaving only January 1, 2 and 3, plus Christmas (January 7), as days off, and making May holidays without interruptions - from May 1 to May 9.
Now the regions themselves have the right to establish additional days off for the May holidays. However, for the most part, they do not take advantage of this opportunity, the Vice Speaker of the State Duma noted.
What do you think of such an initiative? Is it better to add free days in May, or leave everything as it is and not cut New Year's holidays?
