"Yandex" announced a big update "Maps" with 3D junctions and colorful houses

At Yet another Conference 2022 Yandex introduced large-scale update of the Maps service. Its main task is to make city maps more detailed and understandable for users.

To do this, the appearance of public transport stops, underground passages and even the houses themselves were brought closer to reality. The buildings on the new map will be painted in the same colors as in real life, and the route line will adapt to the terrain. If you need to cross the road underground or turn right behind the building, the line will be translucent to make it clearer where to go.

Translucent trees have also been added: they help to better understand the landscape, but at the same time they do not block entrances and symbols, as in satellite frames.

For drivers, the detailing of interchanges has been improved: in the new version, it will be better to see which turn you need, and at what level you should end up.

Yandex Maps will get a new design next year. For the center of Moscow within the Third Ring Road, an update is expected in early 2023, followed by other parts of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Gradually, the maps will be upgraded throughout Russia, starting with larger cities, the update is expected to be completed in a few years.
