Chrome taught to save tab groups after reboot
Miscellaneous / / April 05, 2023
Now this function makes much more sense.
Previously, Google added the ability to save groups of tabs to Chrome, so that you don't keep them open all the time, but have access to them when needed. The group is fixed on the bookmarks bar, so you can open it again with one click.
True, the function has a significant limitation: when you restart or refresh the browser, the groups disappear. However, in the new version of Chrome Canary 110 added local synchronization so that access to this data is preserved. This change has been added to Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS.
Interestingly, it's not uncommon for the group's tab group browser reloads to appear in a different order. The developers are already working on fixing this bug.
If you're using Chrome Canary, you can enable local sync by going to chrome://flags and checking the box next to #tab-groups-save.
It is not yet known when this update will be transferred from Canary to regular Chrome. A similar feature is already working in the stable version of the Edge browser, which also uses the Chromium engine.
