Microsoft started adding ads to the Windows 11 Start Menu

In the latest preview builds of Windows 11, Microsoft is testing a number of small and large changes, including advertising for branded services. She appears in the user profile section of the start menu.

There, when you click on the account icon, a new drop-down menu item appears, where it is recommended install OneDrive to back up personal data, sign up for a Microsoft account, or fill out your own profile.

The developers position these innovations as “useful icons for novice computer users”, but by and large it is still an advertisement for branded solutions.

So far, these offers are only visible to some Windows 11 users and it is not certain that they will appear in the stable version of the system for all users.
