A study has shown that light make-up makes a man's face more attractive.

American scientists from Franklin and Marshall College decided to find out whether makeup affects the attractiveness of male faces. As part of the experiment, they photographed twenty men with a neutral expression, and then took the same pictures with small cosmetic touches performed by a professional makeup artist.

After the authors research asked 200 people of both sexes to rate the attractiveness of people in all 40 photos.

According to the results of the survey, it turned out that men with makeup seemed more attractive and masculine. And this is a general conclusion, regardless of the gender of the respondent. Many noted that cosmetics hid skin defects, emphasized the cheekbones and chin, and also toned the scarlet tint of the lips, which is sometimes associated with femininity.

These results are the first empirical evidence that makeup enhances the attractiveness of male faces, the authors of the study note.
