ESA publishes frightening sounds of the Earth's magnetic field

An audio recording lasting more than 5 minutes resembles the background sounds from a horror movie.
Scientists at the Technical University of Denmark have converted the magnetic signals from the Swarm satellites into audio signals. This made it possible to find out what the Earth's magnetic field sounds like - and this is quite intimidating for what is supposed to protect us.
The authors tried to recreate the rumble of the magnetic field during the solar flare on November 3, 2011. IN press release The European Space Agency (ESA) explains that in addition to satellite data, the authors used earlier data sources to create an accurate sound representation of the field.
As a result, it was possible to combine science and art: during the week from October 24, sounds will be broadcast on the central square of Copenhagen. For the authenticity of the sound, it will be played through 30 speakers dug into the ground. This performance should remind you of the existence of a magnetic field - and although it does not sound very pleasant, we would not be able to live on the planet without it.
Three Swarm satellites (Alpha, Bravo and Charlie), launched in 2013, are being used to study how the Earth's magnetic field is generated. To do this, magnetic signals are recorded that come not only from the core of the Earth, but also from the mantle, crust and oceans, as well as from the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Swarm also allows you to learn about the weather in orbit - and sometimes brings such unusual news.
