Microsoft accidentally showed a prototype of the interface of the next version of Windows

As part of the recent Ignite conference, Microsoft developers talked about the development of Windows and showed a slide with a system interface that is different from the current one in Windows 11. The editors of the Windows Central portal believe that it depicts a prototype desktop design for the next version of the OS.

On the slide, you can see the appearance of a floating taskbar with rounded corners, system tray icons and weather in the corners at the top of the screen, as well as a search box in the center.

Windows Central notes that this is not a concept or someone's fantasy, as the editors have already seen this design before. It's really a prototype interface for the new Windows, codenamed Next Valley. For clarity, this design was recreated in high quality.

Other variations are also reported to place system icons and items at the top in a translucent bar rather than just floating on the desktop. Microsoft also has plans for larger updates to the lock screen and login screen, notification center, and more.

It is assumed that the proposed design prototype is aimed at creating an interface that is better optimized for touch without reducing the experience for mouse and keyboard users. This look will be universal for desktops, laptops and tablets, including those with foldable displays.

There is no word yet on a release date for Next Valley.
