The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and the new Witcher trilogy: CD Projekt RED shared plans for the future

Polish gaming company CD Projekt RED shed light on a number of projects that are under development. Among them is the next game in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, codenamed Orion. For its development, a new studio was opened in Boston under the leadership of CD Projekt North America.

The company also noted that it plans to add multiplayer modes to its games to complement the experience users will get from the single player game. This likely means that the AAA multiplayer game based on Cyberpunk 2077, which has been rumored for several years, will end up as part of a sequel rather than a standalone release.

Also, good news awaited fans of The Witcher. Here is what the Poles announced:

• A new full-fledged trilogy, the first part of which is being developed under the code name Polaris. The authors promise an open world and release within the next six years, but the release date for Polaris has not yet been disclosed.
• Another AAA game called Canis Majoris, not related to the new trilogy. It is the responsibility of a third-party studio that has been involved in the development of previous games in the series. This part will be released on Unreal Engine 5 using part of the Polaris toolkit.

• The Sirius project, combining single-player and multiplayer modes, by Molasses Flood (one of the studios of CD Projekt RED, released Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow). CDPR will help with development.
