Looks like there will be a new Pennywise on the show.
IN interview for Jake's Takes YouTube channel Bill Skarsgård, best known for his role as Pennywise in the 2017 film adaptation of It (and sequel 2019), confirmed that he is not involved in the work on "Welcome to Derry” is a serial prequel to the story.
The actor also shared some tips for whoever plays the clown after him:
If anyone else gets to [play Pennywise], I recommend doing it your way. Make it truly yours. Enjoy it.

The actor also recommended that the heir to the role read the original bookon which the film duology is based.
There are so many details and abstractions that you can literally sit down to decipher them - and this is what I did while working on the character. This book is a true gift. So if anyone else is going to play it, just read the book and look for clues. There are so many that you can come to your own conclusions.

"Welcome to Derry" is the working title of an upcoming HBO Max series that will tell the story of the town before the events of the original novel. The project is directed by Andy Muschietti, who worked on both parts of It. Release dates and plot details have yet to be revealed.
