For Windows, the Nearby Share utility has finally become available, which allows you to quickly share files between your PC and Android device. The function was announced even at the end of 2022.
While the application is available in beta, but it is already possible download from the Android official website. To work correctly, you need a computer with a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or Windows 11, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules.
How Environment Exchange works on Windows
After installing the application, you will need to sign in to your Google account.
Next, you can set the device discovery mode and transfer files to your smartphone with a simple drag and drop.
Here, for example, is an attempt to transfer an image from a PC desktop to a smartphone. The app detected a Pixel 6 lying next to the laptop.
A notification will appear on the smartphone itself that there are devices nearby with the Nearby Share function active. The system will prompt you to turn on the visibility of the gadget.
And then you need to accept the incoming file.
On the PC itself, the sending process will also be visible.
Everything works fast enough, including in the opposite direction - from a smartphone to a PC. However, according to feedback from other users, there may sometimes be problems detecting nearby devices. Write in the comments if the exchange works for you.
