Showtime may release a Dexter prequel about the hero's childhood

In 2021, Showtime unexpectedly revived the popular series Dexter, which originally ended in 2013 for its eighth season. Continued titled "Dexter: New Blood”received high marks from critics and viewers and even came out on top in terms of views in the entire history of the channel: 10 episodes gathered 8 million viewers. A sequel seemed imminent, and data TV Line, it really was in the works.
Initially, it was assumed that the second season would continue the story, but would be dedicated to Dexter's son. But several industry sources told TV Line that development has been scrapped, although Showtime has no intention of abandoning the franchise entirely. Several possible projects are being discussed at once, including a series about the hero's past with the possible subtitle "Dexter: The Early Years".
