Unusual rock found on Mars that could be a meteorite
Miscellaneous / / April 03, 2023
Another unusual find that raises questions from scientists.
The NASA team responsible for the Curiosity mission to Mars reported about the discovery by the rover of an unusual gray stone. It stands out against the background of the environment and is likely to be of extraterrestrial origin.
This is an unusual gray rock that may be a remnant of rocky material above Mount Sharp, or even a meteorite.

The rock in the Curiosity image resembles previous meteorites found on Mars. This planet has a long history of being bombarded by rocks from outer space, so the find itself comes as no surprise to scientists.
Another question is that such stones from outer space require in-depth study, which is still impossible to do. Scientists are interested in how the impact of the Martian environment affects iron meteorites and how this compares to what meteorites experience on Earth.
