Take a look at what truly useful technology looks like.
French robotics startup Meropy has released a SentiV self-propelled device. It is designed to check crops and moves on wheels without rims - with open spokes.
Such unusual wheels help the robot overcome uneven, rugged terrain and minimize damage to crops when moving over them.
The operator selects inspection areas from a laptop and SentiV goes to work navigating the fields using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System).
SentiV uses two cameras to capture the state of plants from two perspectives - from above and below. The height of the robot can be adjusted as needed by simply swapping wheels of different sizes.
Videos from the cameras are processed almost in real time using algorithms based on artificial intelligence. SentiV alerts you to the presence and location of problems such as weeds, diseases and pests. It will also recognize if more fertilizer or water is required and notify you of the current stage of plant growth.
SentiV weighs only 15 kg and is capable of processing up to 20 hectares per day. Potential buyers can register for commercial availability updates via Web site companies.
