IPhone 16 Pro will receive a camera with Face ID under the screen - without holes and "bangs"

This will increase the usable area of the display.
The flagship iPhone 16 Pro, which is expected to be released no earlier than 2024, will be equipped with under-screen Face ID sensors that are invisible when the display is on. About it informs Korean edition of The Elec.
Rumors about such technology first appeared last year, but over and over again the forecasts shifted - hidden sensors did not appear in the iPhone 14 Pro and will not appear in the iPhone 15, which will be released at the end of this of the year.
The main reason for the delay is that the necessary technologies are simply not yet ready for implementation. Some Android device manufacturers have tried to hide cameras under the display (e.g. ZTE), but their implementation reduced the quality of the camera itself.
Samsung has also experimented with a hidden selfie module in Galaxy Z Fold 3, but the sensor itself remained visible even when the display was on, not to mention the quality of the photo.
Face ID is based not only on the photomodule, but also on an additional TrueDepth infrared camera, and this makes the technological task even more difficult. The Verge suggests that in the end, some hole may still remain in the iPhone 16 Pro, but it will be minimal.
