Chrome for Android gets protection for incognito tabs
Miscellaneous / / April 03, 2023
Incognito mode in Chrome allows you to browse pages without saving cookies and download history. This feature is also useful when you're looking for something that shouldn't show up in your search history or recommendations later. And now the Android version of this mode has become a little more secure thanks to a password or biometric lock.
iOS users are familiar with this feature. With it, Chrome will ask you to put your finger on the scanner or enter a password when you try to open an incognito tab.
To enable this protection, in the browser settings you need to find the "Privacy and security" section and select "Block access to incognito tabs when I close Chrome."
If you have the latest version of Chrome installed, but there is no such item, you will have to wait a bit: the function has just been released and has not yet appeared for all users. If you don't want to wait, you can turn it on manually. To do this, follow the link chrome://flags/#incognito-reauthentication-for-android and select Enabled in the drop-down list next to the highlighted item.
Next, you need to restart the browser and go to the settings: the desired slider should appear.
