How to remove a blank page in Word

This is easy to do in many ways.
Quite often, due to layout errors, as well as ignorance of formatting features, blank pages appear in documents that need to be deleted. It should be understood that the sheets are not actually empty, they contain hidden characters. In addition, Word does not allow you to completely delete the pages themselves, and in order to get rid of them, you must erase their contents, even if it is not visible. Only then will the unnecessary sheets finally disappear.
You can act in different ways depending on the situation. Consider a few proven options.
1. How to delete a page in Word via the Navigation Pane
It is convenient to use the navigation area to quickly identify and navigate to empty pages. Word. After selecting a sheet from the preview, you need to select and delete its contents.
To do this, enable page previews by going to the View tab and then clicking Display → Navigation Pane. Or just press Ctrl + F on your keyboard.
Find an empty sheet in the panel that appears on the left, click on it, and then select the page content by holding down the left mouse button. Press the Delete or Backspace key.
The blank page will disappear and the next one will take its place.
2. How to delete a page in Word using search
This option is in many ways similar to the previous one, but you do not have to manually select the contents of the sheet. This can be useful, for example, when used in a document fine print.
Go to a blank sheet and press Ctrl + G. Then in the menu that opens, click "Page", type in the input field \page and click Enter or the Go button.
This will select all the text and other content on the page, after which all you have to do is close the window and press Delete.
The blank sheet will disappear.
3. How to delete a page in Word by removing hidden characters
If the content of the page cannot be selected, it means that it uses special formatting characters like paragraphs, page breaks and another. In this case, you must first enable their display - and then delete them.
To do this, on the "Home" tab, click on the button that resembles a capital letter "P", or simply press Shift + Ctrl + 8 on the keyboard.
Now that the hidden characters are visible, select them with the mouse and delete them by pressing Delete or Backspace.
After that, the next page will take the empty space.
4. How to delete a page in Word by changing the break type
Sometimes blank sheets occur because of an incorrectly chosen break - a place that indicates the transition to the next section. If a gap with an even or odd number is specified pages, then when it is deleted, the formatting may shift and the structure of the document will be broken. In this case, it is enough to choose the correct settings.
On the Home tab, turn on the display of special characters, or simply press Shift + Ctrl + 8. Find a break from an odd or even page and double-click on it.
In the window that opens, set Start Section to On Current Page and click OK. This will remove the blank sheet.
5. How to delete a page in Word by reducing the font
The hidden characters mentioned above are not visible, but take up space on the page. Therefore, there may be situations where a single paragraph mark at the end of a document results in a blank page. This problem can be easily solved by reducing the size of the hidden character to fit on the previous sheet.
First, turn on the display of all characters by pressing the button of the same name on the Home tab or by pressing Shift + Ctrl + 8. Then select the paragraph character at the end, set its font size to 1 point and press Enter.
The blank page will disappear.
6. How to delete a page in Word via export to PDF
If no further editing is expected and you only need to print the document without blank pages, then export to PDF. In the process, you can select a range of sheets and simply do not include empty ones, thus getting rid of them.
Make a note of which pages are blank and open the File menu.
Click "Create PDF/XPS Document" and then "Create PDF/XPS".
Click "Options" and in the window that opens, specify the range of pages with text, except for empty ones, and click OK.
Give the document a name, select a save folder, and click Publish.
