Is it worth watching "Troll", in which the hero of fairy tales tries to destroy Norway

Netflix turned out to be a predictable disaster movie.
On December 1st, Troll premiered on Netflix. The film was directed by Roar Uthaugh (Tomb Rider: Lara Croft) and starred Ine Marie Wilman (Dag), Gare B. Eidswold ("Zero Kelvin"), Kim Falk. But most of the participants in the filming before the "Troll" worked only on projects focused on the Norwegian market.
The construction of the mountain tunnel is stopped due to explosions caused by a strange creature. Later, giant footprints are discovered in nearby valleys. While some scientists and the government are trying to figure out who they are dealing with, paleontologist Nora is looking for ways to stop the troll going towards Oslo and destroying everything in its path.
Maximum Predictability
"Troll" is built according to all the canons disaster films. The approach of something unknown, stupid politicians, the personal drama of the protagonist - the writers did not even try to add something new to the picture. Because of this, "Troll" becomes too predictable - an experienced viewer can even guess the order of the scenes or individual lines. Heroes love heartfelt monologues, consisting of banalities - and there is hardly anything more boring than pathos against such a background.
The characters constantly spoil the next steps and explain where it will lead. If someone said “don’t go north, otherwise they will kill you,” then someone will definitely go north and die. In their own words, the characters also regulate natural processes - in one of the scenes, the characters were waiting for the dawn so much that the sun rose in about 4 seconds.
Lack of identity
The first quarter of the film hints at the fact that the troll is awakened due to the actions of people that negatively affect the environment. Using mythology in the context of environmental issues is not an original idea, but an interesting one. For example, the Ragnarok series is built on the same principles. But by the middle of the "Troll" environmental issues are not just relegated to the background - they simply disappear.
The mythological subtext is similarly touched upon only at the beginning, but is gradually abandoned. The problem is the lack of identity. You can replace the troll with King Kong, Godzilla, tsunami and any mythical giant - and nothing will change. If the beginning of the film hints at the connection between modernity and ancient fairy tales, then by the end there is just a piece of stone that prevents the people of a certain European country from living.
Denial of what is happening
The government gathers scientists and shows them photos and videos showing that a troll destroyed the mine. Scientists say it's anything but a troll. A few minutes later, the same people are shown a video in perfect quality, which shows that a troll is walking around Norway, several people even saw it live. Scientists shake their heads thoughtfully: well, no, this cannot be. It seems that the characters will deny the obvious exactly until the moment the troll shows them an identity card.
The main character does not believe in what is happening. She asks for help from her father, a fanatic who believed in existence all his life. fabulous characters. But instead of asking him questions, she just starts arguing with him in the spirit of "you're wrong, trolls don't exist." Denial allows you to build additional dialogue and just play for time between scenes - they have no other use.
Stereotypical characters
The film is made up of stereotypical characters. A fanatic who believes in trolls, a doubting scientist, a brave soldier, cynical politicians, a hacker - they are all completely devoid of individuality. At the same time, in several scenes they start talking about personal tragedies and fears, but they look like heroes from a bad game - it is impossible to empathize with them.
There is also a division of characters into good and bad. From the very beginning to the very end, they will follow their roles, so that the grumbling bloodthirsty official will always face the cute hacker - guess who will win.
The heroes lack not only originality, but also prudence. Situation: A giant creature that looks like a very large piece of stone destroys everything it touches. The military are trying to resist him with the help of tanks, grenade launchers and... machine guns. They shoot at him and then die. And then again they are going to use machine guns, albeit in conjunction with other weapons. It is surprising that knives are not used.
Troll is an overly predictable disaster movie that doesn't try to be original. References to Scandinavian mythology and environmental issues only fill the dialogues, but do not affect what is happening on the screen. The most stereotypical characters do not allow you to seriously worry about their fate, so all potentially intriguing scenes look boring.
