3 Mistakes winter driving
Tips / / December 19, 2019
On driving trips, and in the autumn-winter period it is said very much. But still, each of us makes these mistakes over and over again, endangering the life - his, passengers and pedestrians. Make life safer!
1. Each tire has its own climate
Error first - unsuitable footwear for wheels. At the first onset of cold weather tires must be replaced. Moreover, in some regions of our vast country introduced special with "catching" motorists not change tires.
Unfortunately, in this case to carry winter tires and studded and so called Velcro. "Velcro" - is not a panacea, because it does not provide high-quality engagement with the icy road. Neither tires at zero temperature does not give full contact (adhesion such as in the summer) on ice, snow or morzlom asphalt. Thus, you can forget about exchange rate stability on the frozen road.
It is also worth remembering that every tire requires skill, addiction, care. And even an infinite number of spikes would not provide the same contact with the road, as in the summer.
2. Four-wheel drive is not a panacea
Unfortunately, the calculation on the four-wheel drive vehicle is not always justified. There is a complete drive scheme, which guarantees stability in any corner, on any road, at any speed. As winter tires, all-wheel drive - a tool which should be able to use it. And no one all-terrain vehicle will not provide stable driving on icy roads in the summer with summer rates and carelessness.
3. Automation will not replace the driving rules
The third mistake - ABS. The system increases the braking distance. On a clean, dry road is almost invisible or unnoticed at all. Winter due antilock braking distance is increased by 2.3 meters at low speeds. At considerable speed usual braking distance can be increased to 15 meters.
The fact that the task of any ABS-system - to prevent the wheels from locking, so that the machine did not go skidding and remains manageable even in case of emergency braking. The driver in this situation gets a chance to drive around the obstacle. However, untrained driver presses on the brake, which leads to fatal consequences.
Conclusion: The speed and sharp driving - not for winter
In winter, you can count only on themselves. Driving skills, of course, plays a huge role, but is not the most important. Winter is coming and it's time to forget about the sharp pressing a pedal, sharp turns steering.
Thrust margin, which is so nice to have in the summer, on an icy snowy road only gets: the wheels are broken in slip, and all the power goes to peel grinding on the asphalt. And not just in the parking lot. Be careful and good road!
