The worldwide release of the new "John Wick" starts on March 24 (in Russia - March 23), but now journalists have been allowed to publish full reviews of the film. They were mostly positive: Metacritic action movie received an average rating of 77/100, on Rotten Tomatoes - 88/100 (based on 14 and 26 reviews, respectively).
Here's what they say about the film:
1. “The fourth part is like the first one trying to be a spaghetti western by Clint Eastwood. Looks like a hybrid between Sergio Leone and John Woo." Variety
2. “How does almost three hours of noise and complete nonsense, not softened by any meaningful plot, manage to work so well?” — Entertainment Weekly
3. "Designed as both a continuation and a culmination [of the series], it's not consistent enough to be considered the best in the series - but when it breaks, it does so with a twinkle." The Daily Beast
4. “The fourth John Wick is epic in every sense of the word: in duration, in scope, and even in awe. Not bad for a series that started with a killer avenging the death of a dog."
Digital Spy5. “If the first three films did not please you, the fourth will not change this opinion. But if you like kinetic action in amazing locations, then no one in Hollywood does it better than Reeves and Stahelski. The Lamplight Review
However, not all critics were satisfied - and one of the main problems was the duration. An action-packed action movie for 169 minutes is not for everyone.
6. “The fight scenes in Paris are great… But this is the first John Wick that didn’t write Kolstadand it is felt. The plot is hard to follow and not engaging. More like a stunt show than a real movie. And what were they even thinking when they wrote this ending? — Beyond The Trailer
7. “In a narrative crammed with side quests, as well as in virtuoso action scenes that last longer than necessary, the viewer begins to see the difference between maximalism and just an extra amount of things somewhere around the third hour (especially in the area buttocks). Stahelski's team just kept filming and filming and filming - too engrossed in the action to stop and think about what it was all about." Guardian
