Burberry's $2,900 big 'Descendants' bag is mocked online

The fourth season of The Descendants featured a $2,900 Burberry handbag that was ridiculed by one of the show's characters for being "ridiculously spacious."

“She took a ridiculously roomy bag with her. What is there anyway? A? Subway flats? Her lunch box for lunch? I mean, Greg, this is monstrous. It's huge," commented character Tom Wambsgans, played by Matthew McFadyen.

This sarcasm really liked the fans of the show. An English-language Google search for "Burberry heirs bag" now leads to multiple posts calling the moment "the perfect joke" and "the best part of the episode." The memes don't disappoint either.

“Just bought this for my mom for Mother's Day! Been looking for four months. She's going to take the bag on the subway and I hope she keeps it at the cost of her life lol".

The scene also sparked an online discussion about luxury items and their sizes. When some go along with Tom's taunts, others defend their big bags.

«If they really kill huge bags in The Descendants, I will be very angry. I'm a lawyer, I need my huge bag. I have a real job. I'm middle class - that's what I have».

By data Harper's Bazaar UK, searches for "Burberry totes" have increased by more than 310% since the release of the new episode of "Descendants". Also Googled “Burberry bag” and “Burberry sale” more frequently.
