Infinite Mac allows you to run older versions of Mac OS right in your browser
Miscellaneous / / April 02, 2023
This is a full emulation of old systems with the ability to open programs and export files.
Programmer Mihai Parparita created the Infinite Mac site, where you can try out all the major versions of Mac operating systems from the 1980s and 90s.
The site lists the Macintosh System Software and Mac OS versions in release order. For each version, the main changes are indicated, and failed updates are also mentioned: buggy or not released at all.
The first versions of the system were only available for Mac 128K, but subsequent updates were released after the release of several Mac computers. This is reflected on the Infinite Mac: using the Customize drop-down list, you can choose which computer model the system will be displayed on. Then click Run to start the system.
It is noteworthy that these are not interface demonstrations, but full-fledged emulators in your browser: you can even download programs and run them on virtual computers.
The site works even on mobile devices, but for full immersion it is better to use a desktop browser and keyboard and mouse.
