Apple Watch Ultra with microLED display coming in 2025

They will be even larger - and probably even more expensive.
In January, Display Supply Chain Consultants analyst Ross Young toldthat Apple is gearing up to launch its first microLED watch in 2025. Now there is more solid evidence.
Yang is referring to the latest quarterly earnings report from Osram, a German company that is expected to be one of the microLED suppliers for the Apple Watch. The company reported that it is going to "begin to report relevant revenues from microLED technology in 2025." The same report claims that Osram will be one of the first to move to mass-scale shipments of new types of displays.
Based on this, Young suggests that such an Apple Watch should not be expected until spring 2025. The analyst did not provide details on the screen dimensions, but earlier leaks mentioned a 2.1-inch diagonal. For comparison, the Apple Watch Ultra has a 1.92-inch display, while the 45mm Series 8 has a 1.77-inch display. Along with the higher cost of a new type of display, this may indicate that we are talking about the new Ultra model, and not the basic Apple Watch.
So far, this watch is at an early stage of development, and the spring of 2025 is not the final date. In the process, the company's plans may change (or new obstacles will appear, like the semiconductor crisis that began in 2020 and still has not ended).
Earlier this week became knownthat Apple is preparing a top-end iPhone Ultra, and designer Jonas Denert showed concept of what this smartphone might look like.
