Now we are waiting for the announcement in the summer, not in the spring.
By data Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple has postponed the presentation of its first mixed reality helmet from April to June. All because of the quality of the product itself: tests of finished helmets in early February showed that both the software and the hardware needed to be improved. In this regard, the announcement was decided to be postponed until the WWDC 2023 conference.
It was originally planned that Apple will show the headset at the spring presentation “for everyone” along with others. gadgets, and will share technical details and tools for creating applications with developers in June at WWDC. Now everything will be shown immediately, and later in 2023 they will be put on sale.
The new headset, which works with virtual and augmented reality, will be the first truly new product from Apple since the announcement of smartwatches in 2015. Entering new territory can help increase sales - if the gadget's popularity does not interfere with the $3,000 price tag.
It is expected that along with the headset will present a new operating system, which is currently being tested under the internal name xrOS. It offers a 3D version of the iPhone interface with customized Messages, Mail, Safari, and TV apps. Without the App Store, too, will not do. In addition to watching immersive content, the device will provide more realistic video calls with personalized avatars.
In addition, Apple is already planning a more affordable version of the helmet with simplified features, which could be released as early as 2024. But augmented reality glasses have so far been put on the back burner and do not seem to be planning to release in the next couple of years.
