1Password will add authorization without a password
Miscellaneous / / April 02, 2023
You no longer have to memorize complex combinations: a smartphone and biometrics will be enough.
The creators of 1Password are official announced the upcoming abandonment of passwords in favor of passkey. These are unique cryptographic tokens that are easier to use but harder to hack or steal than traditional master passwords.
Passkey will allow you to use biometrics on your computer or smartphone to access passwords stored in 1Password. For this to work, you need physical access to the dongle device, so hacking your account using phishing or other fraudulent methods will not work.
Although 1Password has long allowed the use of biometrics to verify autofill, you still need to enter your password from time to time. This is to prevent users from forgetting their passwords. Passkey will allow you to get rid of passwords completely.
Beginning in the summer of 2023, users will be able to create and set up a 1Password account without any password at all. Of course, this contradicts the name of the service, but it simplifies the life of users.
Passkey technology is gradually being introduced everywhere. In 2022, support for these tokens implemented Apple and Google, which made it possible to use iPhone and Android smartphones to unlock data on Windows and Mac - in any combination.
