5 Ways to Build Healthy Habits Without Changing Your Lifestyle
Miscellaneous / / August 01, 2022
Start looking closely at the behavior of your friends and pay attention to your inner rhythm.
1. Stick to natural deadlines
Have you ever tried to give yourself a non-existent deadline to increase your productivity? If yes, then you know that this approach rarely works. At the same time, these tight deadlines really push us to act.
It is because of this peculiarity of the human psyche that we often give priority to minor tasks with pressing deadlines, rather than serious projects for which there is still time. This can be fixed with natural deadlines.
Let's say this month you decide health check and the day before the appointment with the doctor you need to get the results of the tests. You do not really like to donate blood, so you postpone the procedure for later. At the same time, you want to review all the indicators with the doctor, which motivates you to do everything on time. In addition, your doctor praises you for your conscientiousness, and this increases the desire to maintain the habit even more. This is what it means to follow natural deadlines.
2. Watch your behavior
Analyze how you behave, what you repeat over and over again and how to turn it to your advantage. Notice when you do things that would be great to turn into a habit. Every day, week, month? Or only when the children go on vacation, and a loved one is on a business trip? If you're already slowly developing a habit that you want to fully implement into your life, it's time to strengthen it.
For example, you enjoy listening to useful podcasts, but you only do it on the weekends. Try downloading some interesting episodes ahead of time and start listening to them on your way to work. This will build a new habit.
3. Listen to your inner rhythm
Each of us has a certain period in which the peak of productivity falls. For example, on Monday, in the morning or after 21:00. Use this knowledge. If a habit is especially important to you, stick to it during your productive times. Do not leave everything for a period after work.
4. Let go of the habitual
When already existing habits are interrupted, we are much easier to build new ones in their place. This can be organized independently. For example, cancel all YouTube subscriptions and analyze which channels you actually miss. Do not be afraid to periodically give up the usual things - this helps to "reboot" and update.
5. Look at the habits of friends
If your friend has a healthy habit that you would like to adopt, try starting it together. Let's say he runs 3 km every morning. Agree and run together - it's not only useful, but also fun.
